Gronant Dunes form part of a system that stretches east to the Point of Ayr, Talacre, and west to Barkby Beach. An area of special scientific interest, Gronant Dunes are owned and managed by Denbighshire County Council. In 1999 the County Council and the Countryside Council for Wales declared Gronant Dunes a Local Nature Reserve.

The dunes are home to butterflies, natterjack  toads, lizards and little terns among others. Marram grass, sea holly, pyramidal orchid and sea and portland spurge are some of the plants you will find on the dunes if you look carefully.
